Dr Rafia Naz is the Dean for the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship at the National University of Samoa. She obtained her PhD from the University of the South Pacific in 2010. Dr. Naz has been teaching since 2003 in the fields of management and public administration in a number of universities including the University of South Pacific (Fiji) and James Cook University (Singapore). She has contributed numerous papers in refereed journals and book chapters. Her current research interests include Entrepreneurship, Public Sector Governance Reform, Smart government/e-government, Knowledge Management, Public Sector Performance, Waste Management, Marketing, Governance and Policy and Higher Education.
Eric Clem Groves is the Manager Planning under the Governance, Policy and Planning division of the National University of Samoa. In his current capacity, he oversees the development and monitoring of strategic and structural plans of the University such as the Corporate Plan, Campus Master Plan, Strategic Plan, Waste Management Plan and the Renewable Energy Plan. Mr. Groves currently holds a Masters in Development Studies degree and specializes in the history of the National University of Samoa and higher education in developing countries. His wide range of research interests include post-secondary education and training, project management, waste management, renewable energy, inclusive education, policy development and governance.
Manuao Tema is currently working as a Marketing and Management lecturer at the National University of Samoa. She is a graduate of the University of the South Pacific, with a post graduate diploma in Management and Public Administration. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management from the National University of Samoa.
Professor Gurmeet Singh is the Head of the Graduate School of Business and Director of MBA programme. He teaches Marketing on the MBA programme. He has over 21 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy and executive training for industries. He held teaching and research assignments at various universities in India and Africa. He has a wide range of teaching and research experience and has not only taught but developed various courses in the area of marketing and management both at graduate and undergraduate levels. He has contributed more than 100 articles in leading International journals and International conferences including more than 50 articles in ABDC and other ranked international journals. Dr. Singh was editor of Journal of Pacific Studies (2010-2017) an ABDC ranked Journal. Presently he is an associate editor for ABDC ranked Journal of Global Marketing (Taylor Francis) and section edition editor for Australasian Journal of Information Systems a journal ranked A by ABDC. He is also a member of Editorial Review Board for Journal of Business Research, a top tier (A ranked) Journal published by Elsevier. He is the recipient of 2008 ‘Japan’s outstanding research on development Award’ and 2016 ‘Amity Global Academic Excellence Award’. He has done a number of consulting projects for Training and Productivity Authority of Fiji (TPAF), Fiji Public Service Commission and PICPA. He has won research grants from major funding agencies including PARDI, GDN, ODN and USP SRT and FRC funding. His current research interests include Social Entrepreneurship, Project Management, business ethics, Food security and Food consumption behavior, e-Governance for improving service quality, open innovation and service operations management.
Muliagatele Sesilia Lauano is a Lecturer in Management & Marketing at the Faculty of Business & Entrepreneurship and Head of the Department of Accounting and Economics, National University of Samoa. She has a MBA from the University of South Pacific (Fiji) and CAT from the National University of Samoa.
Aruna Tuala is a lecturer in Management and Marketing at the National University of Samoa where she has been teaching Management and Marketing for the last 10 years. She has a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. Her areas of interests include mentoring, Peer-to – Peer support and Technology Enabled Learning.
Sanita Ioapo Tuala is an Accounting Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Economics in the Faculty of Business & Entrepreneurships, National University of Samoa. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce majoring in Accounting & Economics and a Masters of Commerce in Professional Accounting from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji.
Tapu Iemaima Gabriel is the Head of Department for Management Tourism and Hospitality programmes. She graduated with MCom majoring in Management and Public Administration from the University of the South Pacific, Suva Fiji.
Jasem Alhammadi graduated from Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government in Dubai. He received a Master’s degree in innovation management. He is currently working as section manager of support office in the customer happiness division in the Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi and holds more than 20 years of experience in the public sector. He is interested in public private partnership specifically in transport sector and in introducing innovative solutions for transport.
Dr. Mohammad Habibur Rahman is Professor at the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He obtained his PhD from University of Wales in the UK and was Senior Fulbright Scholar at Syracuse University in the USA and Visiting Fellow at York University in Canada. Dr. Rahman has been teaching since 1987 in the fields of public administration, political science, and development studies in a number of universities including University of Dhaka (Bangladesh), Lakehead University (Canada), University of South Pacific (Fiji) and University of Brunei Darussalam (Brunei). He was awarded a number of research grants by various international universities and the Ford Foundation and contributed numerous papers in refereed journals and book chapters. His current research interests include public sector governance reform, smart government/e-government, knowledge management and public sector performance.
Siu Chan is an experienced senior lecturer in accounting with the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship at the National University of Samoa. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in commerce, majoring in accounting from the University of Otago and Victoria University of Wellington, respectively. Her research interests lie in the field of social accounting, particularly in the politics of accounting and accountability for democratic governance.
Martin Sauso’o is one of the newest members of the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship and is a Lecturer in Accounting in the Department of Accounting and Economics in the Faculty of Business & Entrepreneurships, National University of Samoa. He recently graduated with his Bachelor of Commerce and Post-Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting from the Victoria University of Wellington. As one of the youngest members of the faculty, Martin is committed to exploring academic research and gaining insight into commerce. Prior to joining the National University of Samoa, Martin was with British American Tobacco Samoa and the Victoria University of Wellington. He hails from the villages Faleatiu, Vailuutai and Vaitele Fou.
Peniamina Muliaina is a Lecturer in Economics, in the Department of Accounting and Economics in the Faculty of Business & Entrepreneurships, National University of Samoa. He graduated from the Auckland University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Mathematics. He worked as a materials controller for the then Yazaki EDS Samoa Limited from 1996 to 1999 before he was employed as a loans officer for the Development Bank of Samoa (DBS) from 1999 to 2003. Late in 2003 and early 2004, Peniamina was employed as a Mathematics Specialist at the Pacific Centre for Educational Development (PICED) in American Samoa before returning and worked for the Samoa National Provident Fund (SNPF) for ten years as an audit officer, senior auditor and from 2012 to 2014 the assistant investment manager for the Fund’s overseas portfolio. He worked as a part time Economics lecturer from 2008 to 2014 before taking up fulltime lecturing for the Economics Department at the National University of Samoa’s Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship in 2015.
Orita Tautofi is a Lecturer in Economics in the Department of Accounting and Economics in the Faculty of Business & Entrepreneurships, National University of Samoa. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Public Administration from the University of the South Pacific in Fiji (1992) and a Certificate IV in Leadership & Management from APTC Samoa (2018). Before she joined the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship in February 2012, she taught Economics and Math for almost 20 years in Samoa’s Ministry of Education in Samoa College. She is passionate about economics in particular Health and Education Economics and Governance and Public Policies.
Seve Dr. Folototo Seve received his PhD in Accounting from the Australian National University (ANU), Canberra in 2016. The title of his PhD thesis is An examination of the impact of the changes to regulations affecting the scope for income classification shifting in Australia. His research interests include earnings quality, corporate governance and social responsibility, accounting education, and accounting in developing countries. Seve has worked as an academic and a practicing accountant. He is a member of the Samoa Institute of Accountants.
Dr. Penelope Schoeffel is an Associate Professor for the Centre for Samoan Studies at the National University of Samoa. She received her PhD in Anthropology from the Australian National University in 1981. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Papua New Guinea. She has been employed at NUS for 8 years as the Director of the Postgraduate Development Studies programme. Dr. Schoeffel has previously held posts as an International Consultant for 35 years on social and gender development for the Asian Development Bank (ADB), World Bank (WB), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), World Health Organisation (WHO), United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Australian Aid (AUSAid) and New Zealand’s Official Development Assistance (NZODA). She was also a Senior Lecturer in Anthropology and Acting Director for the Centre for Development Studies at The University of Auckland for 7 years. Her areas of interests include Samoa and the Pacific Islands, gender, health and social change.
