JSS has a new Chief Editor

Following the retirement of Professor Penelope Schoeffel Meleisea in December 2023, founder and inaugural editor of The Journal of Sāmoan Studies, the role of Chief Editor has now been taken up by Dr. Dionne Fonoti. Dr. Fonoti is a lecturer in CSS’ Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Department, and also manages the NUS Research Museum. She is humbled by the opportunity to serve as Chief Editor of JSS, adding that, “it is truly an honor for me to follow in the footsteps of Professor Schoeffel in this role. We’re both anthropologists and Penny was instrumental in helping me develop as a scholar, writer and researcher. I look forward to carrying on what she so skillfully started and hope to take it even further.”

NUS and CSS relay their deepest gratitude and thanks to Professor Schoeffel for her years of commitment to establishing and nurturing The Journal of Sāmoan Studies. Malo le fa’aeaea!
